Overview
Open Systems SASE is a managed secure access service edge (SASE) offering from Open Systems AG in Zurich. It combines SD-WAN, firewalling, a cloud secure web gateway, a cloud access security broker (CASB), zero trust network access (ZTNA) and a managed email security gateway, plus an optional managed network underlay built on regional last-mile connectivity, a private backbone and global points of presence. Each service consists of edge devices and/or cloud components, a customer portal and 24x7 operation by Open Systems’ Mission Control engineers. Customers can choose a fully managed or a co-managed model.
The service is aimed at companies and organisations, including manufacturers and NGOs; Open Systems states that its customers operate in more than 180 countries. It is neither self-hostable nor sold as a self-service product, and prices are not published. Swiss hosting is listed as available, but because traffic is handled at edge devices and points of presence worldwide, not all processing takes place in Switzerland. No security certifications could be confirmed from accessible sources.
Open Systems was founded in Zurich in 1990. The private equity firm EQT held a majority stake from 2017 until Swiss Post acquired the company in October 2024; it continues to operate under its own brand within the Swiss Post group.
