Overview
Abacus is an ERP and business software suite developed by Abacus Research AG in Wittenbach SG since 1985. Its modules cover financial accounting, accounts receivable and payable, fixed assets, electronic banking, HR, payroll, time and expense management, project management, CRM, ticketing, archiving, purchasing, production planning, inventory, sales and EDI, plus industry solutions and AI features. Abacus reports around 65,000 customer companies.
The software is licensed for on-premises operation or used as a hosted service. Hosting is provided by the group company Abacus Hosting AG, which runs installations on servers in Swiss data centres, and by Abacus partners. Implementation, licensing and support are largely handled through a network of partners; at the end of 2025 Abacus sold its subsidiary Abacus Services to the partner Axept Business Software.
Abacus does not publish prices. According to Abacus, costs depend on the scope of the project, and quotes are provided by partners. The group’s main market is Switzerland; it also has subsidiaries in Germany (Munich, Hamburg and Waiblingen).
