Overview
cyon is a web hosting provider from Basel, founded in 2003. Its offering covers shared web hosting with included email and SSL certificates, domain registration, a higher-performance Webhosting Pro tier, agency servers on which web agencies can create and resell their own hosting packages, and managed servers. Customers manage services through the my.cyon control panel; SSH and developer tooling are available.
All services run on cyon’s own servers, storage and network, located in the data centre of IWB, the publicly owned Basel utility, about one kilometre from the company’s offices. According to the company, no public cloud providers are used. In 2024 cyon reported around 48,000 customers, 140,000 managed domains and 50 employees.
